On 12-Aug-09, I had such special moment of joy transforming life to chill with you face-to-face at Caf’e Sofia in Rondebosch to discuss how ones life could be transformed in the limited space of time given to live only once, and with that glorious gift of life one has to dilligently oneself to desirable destiny of success, wealth, fame, rich, and on top of them all the righteous life governed by morally ethincal principles, prosperous vision to recognize how those who touch our lives significantly could contribute to ours or how on the other side could make a positive difference as well.

This year, 2009 I hope to graduate with MSc (Mathematics of Finance) from UCT, as I compose this email could hardly let go of the extravagance of excitement deep inside of me to cherish the exceptional skills of Computational Finance capabilities thus have acquired through such a diverse academic careers where I did Electronics and Computer Engineering for Undergraduate Degree and for Postgraduate Masters I’m doing MSc in Mathematics of Finance, to the Finance world I bring along the Scientific Thinking Ability of Engineer to provide instant solutions and cautious
decision making out of properly accurate interpretation of Mathematics and Statistical description Financial Risk and Optimally Smart Portfolio Constrution and Management.

For the short-to-medium term I wish to build a global brand on my name as the Best Quantitative Equity Portfolio Analyst, upon the realisation of these feasible goals wish harness birth gifts to attain any desired destiny with integrity, credibility to the assertions of ethics, moral norms and principled values of public decency. My ambitions seem to neither follow any predefined finite limit in Newtonian Calculus nor any reasonable realistic “as the realist would be cynical about the optimist”.

I am Dimpho Keorapetse, studying in CPUT Bellville campus and I attended the last week’s Working Edge Club – Career Briefing.nbsp; I found it a necessity that students are given a chance to show case what they have to businesses out there. I got to admit it,before I came for tertiary school I was worried that I might turn out to be like the rest of people that are unemployed. It still scares me sometimes to know that my four years of degree could turn out to be a waste of time because I can not find work that suits my qualification.

Attending that meeting showed me that I can start now,at 1st year to look out in the market and talk to people that are already there to show me ways to make it work for me!!! To me, a young person who wants to bring something best out of herself Working Edge is what I can attach myself to !!!

It’s one thing coming into a meeting, thinking you know it all, where all your bases are covered. Then it’s another thing finding out your preparations were based on outdated opinions. Well that’s what happened to me.

The ‘Chill Out’ session held on the 4th of June 2009 was a proper introduction of what to expect from the Working Edge Club AFTER PERSONALLY APPLYING ALL ITS PRINCIPLES!’

I tell you…I’m completing any challenge I face with a totally different frame of mind.

At one point the session felt like a fierce boxing match: In the blue corner, weighing 0kg worth experience- My perception of how employment should be…how it will be. In the red corner- The New Working Age.

Unfortunately my perceptions of work got crushed in the first round, simply because of my lack of solid foundation.

In just a short space of time, I was shown errors made by some students, e.g.:

• Begging senior members at seminars for jobs.
• Sending the same CV with the same motivation letter continuously…and actually expecting a different result from someone. If it didn’t work the first 10 times, it probably won’t work again.

Rather have a different mindset when job-hunting, e.g.:

• Understand ‘WHY’ you’re doing what you’re doing.
• Learning should have a ‘PURPOSE’ to you.
• Think ‘BEYOND’ your field of study.
• Find multiple applications for what you do.
• Increase your performance, not just your potential.

Honestly I could go on, but you’ll have to attend the Working Edge Club seminars yourself to experience these lessons.

We all know that there’s unfair hurdles we need to overcome in life, especially in the working environment. The skills offered by WorkSucks and the Working Edge Club will certainly even the odds, if not give you an unfair advantage.

Like I said earlier, all this will occur ONLY IF YOU PUT IN THE NECESSARY EFFORT, PASSION AND YOU CAPITALISE ON OPPORTUNITIES (No back-stabbing or brown-nosing please (-: )

I’d like to thank Yusuf Mahomedy, Janine Paulse and Lebogang Qabaza. I don’t think that meeting would’ve been as insightful and exciting if neither of you were there. Thanks Guys
