The annual HR Africa Summit, organised by the Institute for International Research South Africa (IIR), will this year combine with its newly purchased Star HRD Expo. Possibly the largest HR event in South Africa; The Star HR Summit and Expo (Incorporating HRDE), will run at the Sandton Convention Centre from 5 – 8 October, 2010.
Stuart Griesbach, group manager at Human Capital Centre of Excellence for Mutual & Federal, and a speaker adds, “It offers an excellent level of integration as I feel there are too many HR events. This is a cornerstone event and last year in my session, a full 20% of delegates were from African states. This is a truly continent-wide event and I am looking forward to the expo.”
This new venture will incorporate the latest HR trends and numerous innovative features with leading HR speakers. This forum will become the ‘must-attend’ event for everyone involved in human resources, education and training.
The summit has been running for the past six years and has grown to be one of the best HR events in South Africa. The event has attracted HR practitioners and interested parties from across the African continent. Each year, the event sees 300+ attendees and attracts 40 to 70 expert speakers. The event has also, over the years, allowed for the creation of numerous great partnerships and support from sponsors, exhibitors as well as media partners.
This year’s summit will continue to attract senior-level directors and HR practitioners from all over Africa to debate urgent issues driving the development of human capital.
This year’s exhibition will include several new initiatives including an e-Learning Zone, education and supplies, training and simulation products, as well as demonstrations.
The organisers are discussing a number of fresh initiatives in conjunction with government agencies that will further highlight and focus attention on Africa’s most important area of development.
IIR is a wholly owned subsidiary of the world’s leading business information company Informa, which for over 20 years, has been a leader in this field. It has grown from 10 to over 110 operating offices around the globe, as the company continues to steam ahead in all four branches of its business – conferences, training, exhibitions and publishing.
“Bringing together these two major HR events will provide everyone involved in HR, education and training, irrespective of their level, with a wonderful opportunity to take part and get a hands-on look into the new initiatives, solutions and ideas that are driving their industry. It is a great opportunity to create a single major event for the country,” explains Allyson Ginsberg, Managing Director, IIR.
